The Resident Assistant assists residents to ensure their cleanliness, nourishment, rest and activity are in a manner conducive to the residents' comfort and safety. The Resident Assistant performs all the duties of assisting with activities of daily living in accordance with the Company’s established procedures and as may be directed by the Executive Director, Wellness Director, Wellness Coordinator, Wellness Nurse, and Pharmacy Consultant and/or Medical Consultant.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Keeps current on federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the protection of the rights of the resident. Preserving the safety, the dignity and self-respect of all residents at all times; practices confidentiality.
Assists residents with access to and participation in their recreational and social activities as needed. Will ensure that a minimum of one Resident Assistant remains with residents during all programming sessions.
Willing to help out in any emergency and provide a variety of support services in all departments as needed throughout the community.
State & Community Specific: Medication Management (including all job duties of Medication Tech).
State Specific: Records all medical and/or care entries on care records, notes, daily assessments and task sheets, etc. in an informative and descriptive manner.
Assists any resident that requires assistance with any Activities of Daily Living (ADL) per their service plan or ALIS assignment, and as needed.
Determines resident's problems, change in condition, and needs and addresses or refers them to appropriate personnel for assistance.
Promptly answers call signals; carries required pagers, scout phones, etc. as required; practices conservation of equipment, keeping them clean and ready to use.
Maintains clear communication with other Resident Assistants and Licensed Nurses via shift to shift reports to make sure set-up procedures and delivery of care is working smoothly.
Performs housekeeping and laundry duties as scheduled and as needed and practices conservation of equipment and supplies, keeping them clean and ready to use.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Prior to presence in the community, applicant must have completed a Post Hire Health Questionnaire upon offer of employment. A TB test result must be received with 7 days of employment. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must be 18 years of age or older and have graduated from the eighth grade, however, a high school graduate is preferred. Training and experience in certified nurses’ aide procedures are desirable and one year or more work experience in assisted living for the elderly is preferred.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Full use of the English language is required; additional language skills are beneficial.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are required.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must carry and maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.

To develop, coordinate, implement and direct person directed lifestyle programming for residents with cognitive impairment; to provide a therapeutic environment that strives to enhance each resident’s physical, social and psychological well-being by creating moments of success. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Adhere to all Sonata objectives, policies and procedures
  2. Attend department head meetings, Lifestyle departmental meetings and Memory Care care meetings
  3. Prepares and provides the Executive Director with records and reports regarding progress toward stated goals
  4. Provides Executive Director reports and records as required for expense and budgeting purposes
  5. Responsible for the creation of monthly programming calendars
  6. Responsible for the development, planning and implementation of the Memory Care Lifestyle activity program on time and as scheduled
  7. Responsible for interview, training, scheduling and overseeing Memory Care Activity Assistants
  8. Responsible for initial orientation and ongoing education of Person Directed Care, PAC Training, initiating activities, topics of discussion, communication techniques, etc.
  9. Participates in the interviewing and supervising of Serenades Resident Assistants.
  10. Review Lifestyle profiles and maintain astute knowledge of residents’ profiles and preferences, ensuring Memory Care team is knowledgeable of content
  11. Record daily residents’ attendance at activities
  12. Monitor grooming of residents and assists if necessary
  13. Treat residents with dignity and observes all residents’ rights and confidentiality
  14. Communicate with team regarding changes in resident’s condition and/or preferences
  15. Hosts and oversees smooth operation of individual and group activities and events as scheduled
  16. Shops for supplies as needed
  17. Follows all vehicle safety policies and procedures
  18. Drives company car for doctor appointments, or other memory care resident transportation needs if Driver, or other Lifestyle team members are not available
  19. Maintains friendly and concerned relationship with residents while upholding the Company’s policies and procedures
  20. Coordinates with families and staff on the development of the Person Directed Care Plan as it relates to the resident’s preferred lifestyle, activity interests and personal preferences
  21. Is considered and utilized as the dementia care and Alzheimer’s Disease community expert
  22. Utilizes expertise to develop and enhance professional referral sources and provide education to the community as needed.
  23. Maintains astute knowledge of Memory Care program components and product differentiation
  24. Acts as a liaison facilitating communication between Resident Care, Memory Care team members, families, community management, and others
  25. Provides for therapeutic environment in the residents’ personal and congregate areas, compensating for cognitive, sensory and physical impairments
  26. Provides individual or group services for the residents and/or families at times of adjustment or crises and as programmed on a regularly scheduled basis
  27. Provides, as needed, resident and family services such as counseling, problem-solving, referral and advocacy
  28. On call for emergencies such as hurricane or other major emergencies
  29. Participates in tours, presentations or other sales events as appropriate

The Server/Utility worker is responsible for the implementation of dietary services to residents, and to provide an atmosphere of warmth and a pleasant reception in the dining room for residents to enjoy meals and meet with family and friends.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Dispenses kindness to residents in large amounts; shows professional courtesy, is polite and helpful at all times.
  2. Read menu and any other communications when first reporting on duty and attends short meeting with shift leader and cook before each meal to review any changes.
  3. Checks with Front Desk for resident meal count; checks production sheets for assigned food preparation that shift is responsible for (i.e. salads, desserts).
  4. Aware of residents who are out ill and/or out of the building at meal times; reports it to the Front Desk.
  5. Aware of guests attending activities involving food service and helps out when needed
  6. Stays alert to residents who want 1/2 portions, special diets, etc.
  7. Prepares coffee and sets up creamer, butter and water on dining room tables approximately 30 minutes before serving time.
  8. Completes service to each station less than 30 minutes without sacrificing etiquette, style and efficiency. Waits tables in assigned areas in an efficient and courteous manner; maintains a smile and a cheerful attitude while on the floor. Pre-buses dishes before serving main entree to the resident.
  9. After a meal, clears butter and creamer from tables and returns them to refrigerator; makes sure the sugar containers and salt and pepper shakers are filled. Wipes down tables and chairs with cleaner and sets the tables. Follows through with proper storage of leftovers; utilizes leftovers wisely and avoids food waste.
  10. Aware of stock, locations and expiration dates on refrigerated items.
  11. Offer assistance to cook, when assigned work is completed.
  12. Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties including work areas, tables, appliances and floors.
  13. Assist in dish and utensil washing and cleaning including gathering soiled items from carts, trays and dining areas and placing clean items in proper storage areas.
  14. Willing to help out in any emergency and provide a variety of support services as needed.

The Concierge answers the telephone, directs calls, provides information, greets people and assists in general office work and resident needs. They create the first impression for every visitor that calls in or walks into the community. It is expected that Concierge understands “At Your Service” philosophy and exemplifies it with every interaction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.   1. Greets people when they arrive at the community. Inquires as to their business in the community and gives them information, assistance and directions as needed.
  2. Accepts and refers all incoming calls. Receives inquiry calls in the absence of key staff and takes specific information to assure easy follow up.
  3. Works together with administrative staff to cooperatively problem solve situations on a day-to-day basis.
