Fall prevention

Did you know that one in four older Americans fall in a significant way? And that fall is the leading cause of injury for people 65 and over? For information on fall prevention, here are some simple things you can do:

  • If you wear glasses, make sure your prescription is up to date and that you’re wearing them as prescribed.
  • If you experience dizziness or balance issues, be sure and discuss that with your doctor. it could be the side effect of a medication – both prescription and over-the-counter.
  • If there are light bulbs in need of changing in your suite, tell the concierge right away.
  • Exercise! Staying as physically fit as possible will improve balance, strength, and gait.

Stay fit and aware of your surroundings but most importantly, stay safe.
